Beyond the years of Paerata Rise

While Paerata Rise is a new town now, it will eventually consist of approximately 4,500 houses that are built on the firm foundations of the Wesley College Trust.

Street name suggestions have come from the community, including local iwi and trust members, to ensure the appropriate respect is paid to the community and heritage is represented.  

“Heritage is an important element of the development and street names are chosen to reflect this. For example, Te Rata Boulevard is a street name that shows appreciation of connection to the land,” says Chris Johnston, Executive Director of Paerata Rise.

“We are also looking into repurposed heritage buildings to continue to tell the story of our history. This would create an integration of old and new characteristics and charm.”
