Is Paerata Rise a Safe Place to Raise a Family?

When families look for a new place to call home, safety is usually at the top of the list. But safety isn’t  just about crime statistics, it’s about feeling comfortable in your neighbourhood, knowing your children  can play outside, and being surrounded by a community that looks out for one another.

That’s exactly the environment Paerata Rise has been designed to create. Located between the  convenience of Auckland and the charm of the Franklin region, Paerata Rise is a master-planned  community where thoughtful design and strong community values work together to create a place  families can truly feel at home.

From the moment you arrive, it’s clear Paerata Rise is more than just a housing development. Streets,  parks, and shared spaces have been carefully planned to encourage connection, visibility, and walkability.  Open green spaces, playgrounds, and walking trails create natural gathering places where neighbours  can meet, and children can play safely close to home.

For Sarah Rogers, who moved to Paerata Rise with her family three and a half years ago, that sense of  safety and community was one of the biggest reasons they chose to build here.

“We liked the mix of modern homes and the quiet, semi-rural vibe,” she says. “It felt really safe, family  friendly, and like a good place to call home.”

Today, that first impression has only strengthened.

“It’s relaxed and welcoming,” Sarah explains. “People say hi, the kids play outside, and there’s a real  sense of community.”

A big part of that atmosphere comes from the community spaces that bring people together. The Rise’n  Shine Café and nearby playground have become a popular meeting spot for local families.

“We spend a lot of time at the Rise’n Shine Café,” Sarah says. “The kids can play at the park while we  grab a coffee, or sometimes a wine or two! It’s an easy, enjoyable lifestyle.”

Paerata Rise also offers families space to explore and enjoy the outdoors. Walking and cycling paths  weave through the neighbourhood, while playgrounds, open fields, and parks provide plenty of room for  children to run, ride scooters, and kick a ball around.

“There are heaps of playgrounds, bike paths, and open fields,” Sarah says. “There are also regular local  events that help the kids stay active and social.”

Education is another key part of family life, and Paerata Rise is well positioned for growing families.  Paerata School sits at the heart of the community, while nearby schools such as ACG Strathallan, Wesley  College, Pukekohe High School, and St Ignatius of Loyola College provide strong options for older  students. Plans for a new high school in nearby Drury will further support families in the years ahead.

Underlying the development of Paerata Rise is the long-standing heritage of Grafton Downs,  the team behind the project. Their vision has always been to create more than just houses, to build a  lasting community where people feel connected, supported, and proud to live.

For families like Sarah’s, that vision is already becoming a reality.

“It’s a great environment for families,” she says. “There’s space, there’s community, and it really does  feel like home.”
