Supporting Franklin: Why Local Businesses Are Thriving at Paerata Rise

Paerata Rise is more than a place to live, it’s a community designed to grow alongside the people and businesses that call Franklin home.

As the township continues to develop, it’s already helping drive job growth across a range of industries, from construction and retail to education and hospitality. That means more opportunities for people to work locally while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of a thoughtfully planned community.

And when city opportunities call, Paerata Rise offers the best of both worlds. With Auckland within easy reach, residents can commute when needed and still return home to a neighbourhood that feels connected, relaxed and distinctly local.

Supporting Local Enterprise

Paerata Rise is also creating space for new businesses to grow. Opportunities for home-based businesses, local services, and retail hubs are helping entrepreneurs build ventures close to home, while planned commercial spaces will continue to expand the local economy as the community grows.

Just five minutes away, Pukekohe town centre provides a thriving hub of activity with boutique shopping, cafés, an art gallery, cinema, library, medical services and transport links to central Auckland. This proximity allows Paerata Rise residents to enjoy both a peaceful neighbourhood lifestyle and access to a vibrant town centre

Partnering with the Pukekohe Business Association

An important part of supporting local enterprise is collaboration with organisations that champion the region’s business community. Paerata Rise works closely with the Pukekohe Business Association (PBA), a not-for-profit incorporated society dedicated to promoting Pukekohe as a dynamic place to shop, dine and do business.

The association plays a vital role in strengthening the local economy through initiatives that promote the town centre, host community events, and support businesses with regular communication and advocacy. By working together, Paerata Rise and the PBA help ensure that the growth of the new township complements and strengthens the existing Franklin business network.

As more residents move into Paerata Rise, the connection between the local community and the wider Pukekohe business precinct continues to grow and create opportunities for both established businesses and new ventures.

Looking Ahead

The future for local business at Paerata Rise continues to grow. Plans for a new supermarket at the northern end of the community will form part of a wider retail precinct, bringing additional shops and services closer to home. Woolworths is set to open in Feburary 2027 and has plans for six directto-boot bays, four electric vehicle parking spaces, and a 180sqm online order hub. The site will be located at the north-western corner of Paerata Rise, near the Karaka Road and Glenbrook Road roundabout.

These developments are designed to make everyday life more convenient while supporting a thriving local economy.

Together with nearby Pukekohe and the wider Franklin district, Paerata Rise is helping create a place where local businesses can flourish and where residents can live, work and connect within a vibrant and supportive community.
