Paerātā Railway Station Is Open: A New Connection for Paerata Rise
A new chapter in connectivity has arrived for Paerata Rise. The new Paerātā Railway Station opened in August 2026, giving residents a new way to travel around Auckland and making public transport an even more practical part of everyday life.
For a growing community like Paerata Rise, it is an important milestone. The station brings Southern Line train services closer to home, giving residents easier access to Auckland’s city centre, Middlemore Hospital and destinations throughout the wider rail network. Auckland Airport is also accessible by connecting at Puhinui to the AirportLink bus.
It means more choice for the daily commute, school and university trips, appointments, weekends in the city and everything in between.
- Easier access: The new train station is located on the eastern side of the Paerata Rise development along the North Island Main Trunk line and is around five kilometres north of Pukekohe. It has been developed as part of wider investment in Auckland’s southern rail network.
- Improved park and ride: The station includes 350 park and ride spaces, with room for expansion in the future
- Better connections: Walking, cycling and local bus connections make it easier for people to reach the station without relying solely on the car. An upgraded bus network will also connect communities including Paerata Rise, Pukekohe, Waiuku, Glenbrook and surrounding Franklin areas with the new rail services.
- A connected community: For Paerata Rise residents, integration is particularly important. The township has always been planned with the long term in mind, bringing homes, green spaces, schools, walking and cycling routes and future amenities together as part of one connected community.
More choice for the daily commute
Paerātā Station is served by Southern Line trains operating from early morning through to late evening, including later services on Friday and Saturday nights. Auckland’s City Rail Link is set to reshape the wider rail network, so the benefits of having a station close to home will continue to grow.
Once the City Rail Link is operating, Paerātā will be served by the South-City Line, with trains planned to run every 10 minutes during peak periods, every 15 minutes off-peak and every 30 minutes at night. That will make trips into central Auckland, Newmarket and other parts of the city more convenient, while creating new possibilities for journeys that have traditionally been easier by car.
Connected to Auckland, at home in Franklin
